I took a bus from Cochin City to the town where the family which is hosting me lives. It had been a long and hot day and I was really exhausted. I wanted to reach the house as early as possible to have a shower and chill out for a while. On the other hand, I always try to arrive to the places with daylight. Many Indian towns and cities are insufficient illuminated and it’s quite difficult to reach a place in the darkness. But today not only I arrived when it was already dark but also the bus stopped in the middle of a road. “But this is not the bus stand”, I complained. “Everybody has to get off here”, the driver answered sharply. So I found myself alone, in the middle of nowhere and in the dark. I wandered on the road, wondering what to do or where to go. Finally I decided just walk, it doesn´t matter to where.
After twenty minutes walking I got the outskirts of the city. One of the first shops I saw was a kebab next to the road. In spite of the hassle of the situation, I had a look hastily to the delicious roasted meat and the waiter asked me what I wanted. ¨Everything looks nice but I´m afraid I haven´t enough money, so nothing”, I told him and I turned back. “Come here”, he told me with a wink, “if you haven’t money, then it’s for free”. When I got the delicious kebab, gratefully, I told him “Thank you very much, I accept it as an Allah’s gift”, and he, shrugging off to the matter just answered “Hamdulillah!”.
