Prisoner

Sometimes, travelling by train in India is an enjoyable and amusing experience. Trains are real spectacles and you can soak up the Indian daily life. Your travel mates will ask you everything about your whole life while different characters will go up and down the corridor, selling their stuff or beggaring some money. But other times, depending on the distances and your mood, the journey can become just the opposite: a nightmare.

Three days ago I took a train to reach Goa, my next destination. The distance was about two thousand kilometres and it´s supposed not to be longer than forty-five hours. In fact, there was another shorter train but I always choose the cheapest option to be in keeping my budget. The train was delayed several times and finally the total time turned into almost sixty bored stiff and eternal hours. It was a perfect example of how a simple train can become a dreadful jail.
