Before living Goa, I wanted to know the Calangute beach. It’s located in the North of the region and it´s known because it was the first beach to attract European hippies travelling to India overland in the ‘60s, looking for spirituality, drugs and a laid-back experience. I expected to find something similar to the idyllic and beautiful beaches in the South but I felt absolutely disappointed. The beach was an overcrowded, overhyped, overpriced mayhem, where drugs, alcohol and trance music are the main entertainments. The only positive aspect is that alcohol is here cheaper than in the rest of India. Let’s drink a beer to celebrate it and let’s go on again!
