Golden Temple

Golden Temple is, in my opinion, one of the most fascinating places in all India. I feel lucky because I can visit it every day now that I'm living in Amritsar. The Temple is the holiest sanctuary for Sikhs. It was buit in the XVIII century and since then it has been the hearth of this religion. It was destroyed in a battle but after it was reconstructed and in 1802 a rich maharaja covered all its walls with 750 kg. of pure gold. Its name is because this. Even though it's daily visited by thousands of people, inside the Temple you can breathe a peaceful and spiritual atmosphere. As in all the Hindu and Sikh temples you must take off your shoes and cover your head before enter in. Once inside, people walk, pray, have a dip in the lake that sourround the Temple or just have a nap. A lot of guards wearing uniform, long beard and lances to take care everything in order. In my opinion, the most fascinating is not the gold of the walls but the people and the atmosphere.
